Hubble Space Telescope. This space observatory, designed for use in orbit around the Earth, was named after U.S. astronomer Edwin Powell Hubble (1889–1953), a pioneer in extragalactic research who discovered in 1929 the expansion of the universe. Hubble also has Hubble’s law and Hubble’s constant named af- ter him. |
