词源 | lackluster. Lackluster originally referred only to a lack of lus- ter or brightness in the eyes; in fact, we don’t find it to describe anything else lackluster until Dickens’s time. The word was in- vented or first recorded by Shakespeare in 1600: “. . . looking on it with lack-lustre eye, he says . . .” |
