词汇 | tiddly |
词源 | tiddly; tiddlywinks. In British Cockney rhyming slang a tid- dlywink meant a drink. From this expression comes tiddly, for “a little drunk,” first recorded in the late 19th century. The game tiddlywinks is first recorded in 1870 and may be so named be- cause of the little counters used in playing it, tiddly here per- haps being baby talk for “little.” |
