词汇 sturm und drang
词源
Sturm und Drang. The German phrase, pronounced “stoorm und drang,” means storm and stress. First applied to the revolu- tionary literary movement that was awakening Germany under the inspiration of Goethe and Schiller in the late 18th century, the name was suggested by the play Wirrwarr, oder, Sturm und Drang, (1776), a romantic drama by Friedrich Maximilian von Klinger. Its adherents, extremely nationalistic, preferred inspi- ration to reason and were also characterized by opposition to established forms of society. The expression is now often used to mean a time of trouble and stress in the life of a nation or individual.
