| 词源 | Faber and Faber. The famous British publishing firm of Fab- er and Faber (T. S. Eliot was an editor there) was established in 1929, and only one Faber owned it: Geoffrey Faber (1887– 1961). It is said that the second fictional Faber was something of a joke suggested by British poet Walter de la Mare but was a high compliment to Geoffrey Faber as well. Use another Faber in the firm’s name, de la Mare said, “because you can’t have too much of a good thing.” |
