词汇 | barbie doll |
词源 | Barbie doll. I’ve heard Barbie doll used as American slang for a conformist or a dehumanized person since the late 1960s, though the first recorded use of the term seems to have been in a 1973 issue of Rolling Stone. The term derives from the trade name of a very popular blue-eyed blond doll made for little girls. The doll’s name, in turn, comes from the name of Barbara Millicent Roberts, daughter of Ruth Handler, who created the doll in 1959-Barbie’s birthday is March 9 to be exact. Barbie and her husband Ken became grandparents in 2003. |
