| 词源 | black rat. The black rat (Rottus, rattus, rattas), also known as the roof rat and Alexander rat, is smaller than its Norway rat (qv) cousins. It is, however, the rat species that for the most part spreads bubonic plague to humans. Except for the lack of a bushy tail it resembles a squirrel much more than its shaggy brown relative and, with its long tail balancing, it can climb or leap with nearly as much agility as a squirrel. |
