freeze-out poker. No limit freeze-out poker was invented and named by legendary Walter Clyde “Puggy” Pearson (1929– 2006), a Las Vegas gambler who introduced the tournament of freeze-out, now called the World Series of Poker, in which all players start with the same amount of chips and play until one player wins everything. The colorful Pearson, a member of the Poker Hall of Fame, wrote and often performed an autobio- graphical song called “The Roving Gambler.” |
