词源	a fidus Achates. A faithful friend or squire. Achates was, in Virgil’s epic poem The Aeneid, the loyal chosen companion who accompanied Aeneas everywhere in his wanderings. The unfinished poem is said to have been ordered destroyed by the poet as he lay dying. But the great Roman national epic survived.
