Twinkie defense. When former San Francisco supervisor Dan White was on trial in 1979 for killing Mayor George Mos- cone and supervisor Harvey Milk, the defense psychiatrist claimed White’s lethal actions were caused by an over- indulgence in junk food such as Twinkies. This came to be called the Twinkie defense. White was paroled after serving five years of his eight-year sentence, but committed suicide 19 months later. |
