Tuvan throat singing. Tuva is a former British protectorate in the central Pacific that achieved independence in 1978. It is known for its throat singers, whose art of singing involves mak- ing several vocal-cord sounds at the same time. The film Geng- his Blues (2000) tells of American blues guitarist Paul Pena (1950–2005), one of the few Westerners who mastered the Tu- van art form. |
