词源 | Queen Mary’s thistle. The national flower of Scotland was supposedly named for Mary, Queen of Scots, after attendants presented her a basket of the flowers while she was imprisoned in Fotheringay Castle by England’s Queen Elizabeth. Also called the cotton thistle, Onopordum ancanthium has a purple top and is covered with little threadlike white hairs. |
