Tom Thumb golf. Tom Thumb golf is a synonym for minia- ture golf (also known as midget golf), which is a game played with a putter and golf ball on a very short course that has many wooden and concrete obstacles. The game was invented around 1910. One of the first courses was built in Pinehurst, North Carolina, by landscape architect E. H. Wiswell and named “Thistle Dhu”—supposedly because Wiswell tired of the job and pronounced it finished, saying “This’ll do.” |
