词源	L’Hara. According to one interesting account, uncorroborat- ed here, this was the name for the police in the Spanish- speaking New York City barrio during the 1930s and 1940s. It seems that many of the Irish New York cops at the time were named O’Hara, which, in the distorted form of L’Hara, became the eponym for police in general.
