词源 | grand slam. In bridge a grand slam is the taking of all 13 tricks in a deal and the phrase dates back to about 1895 in that sense. By 1940 it became baseball’s home run hit with the bases loaded—the sport’s ultimate home run. In tennis a Grand Slam is winning the four major world titles: the Wimbledon (En- gland), the U.S. Open, the Australian Open, and the French Open. In general use, a grand slam is the ultimate of anything. |
