Oh Rinehart! It has been established that this historical ex- pression honors James Brice Gordon Rinehart, Harvard class of 1900. In Three Centuries of Harvard (1936), historian Samuel Eliot Morison explained the cry: “Oh Rinehart began after a student of the name had been repeatedly shouted to by noisy friends. In the course of time it has become a sort of Harvard battle-cry, and the word is now used to describe any yard up- roar, in which the calling of Mr. Rinehart’s undying name is an inevitable feature.”
