| 词源 | Pegasus. The famous winged horse of Greek mythology. Pegasus sprang from the blood of the Gorgon Medusa when the hero Perseus, a favorite of the gods, cut off her head. Hippo- crene, the sacred fountain of the Muses on Mt. Helicon, arose from a stamp of the hoof of Pegasus. Hippocrene literally trans- lates as “fountain of the horse” and can mean poetic inspira- tion, as in Keats’s “Ode to a Nightingale.” See medusa. |
