Vichy water. Originally Vichy was natural mineral water from springs at Vichy in central France. The term came into use in about 1855 but lost its capital over the years when the name was applied to other natural and artificial mineral waters. Such waters are mostly called vichy water or mineral water to- day. The city of Vichy was also the capital of unoccupied France during World War II and all of unoccupied France was fre- quently called Vichy. |
