V for victory sign. The V sign made by two fingers, palm outward, seems to have first been used during the early years of World War II. The British prime minister used it often, making it famous, but he did not invent it, that rare genius as of yet un- known. When the V sign is made palm inward by a Briton it means “fuck you.” Said Winston Churchill in 1941: “The V sign is the symbol of the unconquerable will of the occupied territo- ries, and portent of the fate awaiting the Nazi tyranny.” |
