词源 | “Hail to the Chief.” Verses from Sir Walter Scott’s poem “Lady of the Lake” (1810), including “Hail to the Chief who in triumph advances!” were put to music in about 1820 by com- poser James Sanderson (1769–1841) and became the march traditionally played to honor the president of the United States, especially at official events. |
