| 词源 | negus. History tells us little about Col. Francis Negus except that he lived in Queen Anne’s reign and concocted the first ne- gus known to be devised by man. A negus is brewed by mixing wine, usually port or sherry, with hot water, sugar, lemon juice, and spices such as nutmeg. Walpole and other writers have praised the hot drink, which warms a body up but can be peril- ously potent. Colonel Negus died in 1732 and 10 years later people were commonly calling his bequest by his name. |
