词汇 | mycenae |
词源 | Mycenae. The ancient city of Mycenae in southern Greece, where important ruins are found today, possibly takes its name from mykes, mushrooms. One legend tells that Perseus, son of the god Zeus, being hot and thirsty, picked a mushroom and drank the water flowing from it, expressing his gratitude by naming the city in its honor. While all sources do not accept this story, most say Perseus founded the city. |
