| 词汇 | gazette |
| 词源 | gazette. Newspapers were first called gazettas in 16th-century Venice, where they were so named because one could be bought with a Venetian coin of small value called a gazeta. By 1605 we find Ben Jonson using the word in English, though it wasn’t spelled in its present form for another 75 years or so. |
