It dates back to 1883, when the Brooklyn Bridge was completed, releasing more traffic into Manhattan and Brooklyn. The subway expression rush hour express was first recorded in 1928. In Japan rush hour workers called “fanny pushers” (a euphemistic translation) are employed to pack people into rush hour trains. |
