Mormon State. A popular nickname for Utah, which was of course settled by Mormons. Utah calls itself the Beehive State and its state seal depicts a beehive and bees representing the in- dustry of its people. It is also called the Deseret State (deseret is a word in the Book of Mormon signifying a honeybee), the Land of the Mormons, the Land of the Saints, and the Salt Lake State. See utah. |
