Vardon grip. Harry Vardon (1870–1937), who won the Brit- ish Open a record six times as well as the U. S. Open, is one of the outstanding golfers of all time. Born on the Channel Island of Jersey, Vardon also won eponymous fame for the Vardon grip, the overlapping grip used by most golf players today. The Vardon trophy, named in his honor, is awarded to the golfer with the lowest yearly average for the pro tour. |
