In his classic The Outermost House (1928), Henry Beston wove it this way: “All winter long [the carpet of] this grass has been a kind of rag gray . . . but now it wears one of the rarest and loveliest greens in nature. I shall have to use the term ‘sage green’ in telling of it . . .” |
