The Splendid Drunken Twenties. A name for the 1920s coined by American novelist Carl Van Vechten (1880–1964). Van Vechten and his second wife, actress Fania Marinoff, en- tertained the fabulous literary lions of the day at their famous parties. His novel Parties (1930) was based on the lives of F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, Zelda. |
