词汇 | oligopsony |
词源 | oligopsony; duopsony; monopsony; monopoly. The 10- dollar word oligopsony has no 10-cent synonym, as so many high-toned words do. It means a market condition where there are so few buyers and the actions of just one of them could drastically affect the market. Deriving from the Greek oligos, few, and opsōnēs, buyer, it is not to be confused with duopsony, a market condition that exists where there are two buyers only, or monopsony, a market condition where there is only one buy- er (monopoly can also be used to express this last condition). |
