词汇 | budge |
词源 | budge. An old-fashioned term for a fit of fidgety nerves. In The Deliverance (1904), Ellen Glasgow wrote: “Having unfortu- nately crossed her knees in the parlour after supper, she suf- fered untold tortures from ‘budges’ for three mortal hours rather than be seen to do anything so indelicate as to uncross them.” |
