“Finnegan’s Wake.” A little-known American-Irish song en- titled “Finnegans Wake” gave James Joyce the title for his fa- mous novel. It was a song of Irish immigrant laborers in New York City and the lyrics go on to tell how Finnegan falls and is pronounced dead, only to revive when he gets hold of the whis- key bottle passed around at his wake.
