vengeance (n.)

公元1300年左右，源自盎格鲁-法语 vengeaunce，古法语 vengeance， venjance “复仇，报应”（12世纪），源自 vengier “复仇”，源自拉丁语 vindicare “主张权利，将其视为自己的； 报复，惩罚”（参见 vindicate）。
