| 词源 | collie. Though they are generally white and brown today, col- lies were originally black medium-sized shepherd’s dogs when bred in 17th-century Scotland. They may have taken their name from their black color, being first called coalies, then col- lies. But the dogs could also have been named after the com- mon Scottish name Colin, which in pastoral verse denotes “a shepherd.” |
