词汇 can’t anyone here play this game
词源
Can’t anyone here play this game?  Casey Stengel, legendary manager of the New York Mets (and the New York Yankees previously), uttered this plaintive cry when one of his players committed two errors to lose an extra-inning game during the 1962 season. The hapless Mets finished last that year, 621/2 games out of first place, losing more games than any other 20th-century team. Writer Jimmy Breslin called the Mets “a team . . . for losers, just like nearly everybody else in life.” Since Stengel said them, the words have been widely used outside of baseball as a humorous admonition to anyone who can’t do a job right. Incidentally, Stengel’s real name was Charles Dillon Stengel. His nickname Casey came from K.C., because he hailed from Kansas City.
