词源	Texas leaguer. A cheap hit that falls between the infield and the outfield in baseball is called a Texas leaguer because back in 1886 three players who had been traded up to the majors from a Texas league team enabled Toledo to beat Syracuse by repeat- edly getting such hits. After the game, the disgusted Syracuse pitcher described the hits as just “little old dinky Texas leagu- ers,” and the name stuck.
