Hasty Pudding Club. The oldest American theatrical social club and perhaps the best-known is Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Club, founded in 1795 and named after Joel Barlow’s mock- epic poem “The Hasty Pudding.” Over the years its theatricals have featured as performers and writers such notables as Oliver Wendell Holmes, William Randolph Hearst, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Robert Sherwood. |
