rose of Jericho. Native to the deserts of Arabia, the rose of Jericho (Anastatica hierochuntica) or “resurrection plant” is, when dry, a tight ball the size of an orange that is driven across the sands by the winds. It can be kept like this for many years but will often continue to grow, unfolding and revealing small leaves and minute white flowers when exposed to water. It is also called “the rose of the virgin.” |
