G.I. party. No celebration at all, but since World War II the name for a compulsory cleaning of a barracks by its G.I. resi- dents. The complete cleaning includes floors, walls, ceilings, and latrines and in basic training generally takes place every week before Saturday inspection. Often the inspections are white-glove inspections, during which any dust that shows up on the inspecting officer’s white gloves is cause for the G.I.s to be punished with loss of weekend passes. |
