词汇 sjambok rule
词源
Sjambok rule. Sjambok, for “a rhino-hide whip,” is said to come from Malay and ultimately from Urdu. The word, however, is associated with the Boers of South Africa, sjambok rule mean- ing a repressive tyrannical rule of whips and violence. The word is an international one, recorded in the dictionaries of many lan- guages. It seems to have come into English in the first quarter of the 19th century.
