| 词源 | sign language. Sign language is any method of communica- tion employing manual gestures, especially as used by deaf people. The term dates back to about 1840. Signing is the pro- cess of employing sign language. When ill in the South Pacific and unable to hold his pen or even speak, Tusitala, or “the Tale Teller,” as the natives called Robert Louis Stevenson, dictated his stories with his fingers by the signing alphabet. |
