This is the name given to 1) Henry Chad- wick, a British-born author whose writings strongly influenced the game, though he held that it evolved from the British game of rounders; 2) Abner Doubleday, erroneously thought to have “invented” baseball (an honor even he denied); and 3) to American Alexander Cartwright who may have “invented” the modern game. |
