词源	Easter Island. Dutch admiral Jacob Roggeveen so named Easter Island in honor of his landing there on Easter Sunday in 1722. The Polynesian islanders call the 63-square-mile island in the South Pacific Rapa Nui. The hundreds of huge statues on Easter Island are called moai, the largest of which measure about 65 feet high and weigh some 270 tons.
