词源 | ears. The small boxed or unboxed information (weather, pa- per’s motto, etc.) on the upper side of a newspaper’s front page. So called because of their positioning like the ears on a human face. The term was first recorded in 1901, according to Par- tridge, and is sometimes given as ear-tabs. |
