词汇 | drumstick |
词源 | drumstick. The drumstick of a turkey or other fowl is so called because it resembles a drumstick in shape. But the word is a euphemism of British origin, invented as a substitute for “leg,” which the Victorians found offensive enough to call a “limb.” |
