词源	Doctor Dryasdust. Usually a fictitious pedantic antiquarian or historian. Sir Walter Scott put Doctor Dryasdust’s name on several prefaces of his novels, which weren’t generally tedious, as some would have it. Scott, incidentally, established the form of both the historical novel and the short story.
