| 词源 | Roget’s. Refers to English lexicographer Dr. Peter Mark Roget (1779–1879) and the renowned Rogets Thesaurus of En- glish Words and Phrases that he published in 1852. Roget, a physician and scholar who lived to be 90, compiled updated editions of his book, as did his son and his grandson over the years. It was not until 1953 that Roget’s passed out of family hands, but this book of synonyms has never been out of print. Thesaurus is Greek for “treasure” or “storehouse.” |
