词源 | a stone in my shoe. A minor annoyance, an irritation. In the Godfather and Sopranos films this expression was employed several times, usually when one gangster wanted the Godfather to take care of him by taking the stone out of his shoe, that is by putting the first gangster out of commission. A variation on the expression is get rid of a pebble in my shoe. |
