词汇 debonair
词源
debonair. In the medieval French sport of falconry, many distinct strains of hawks were developed for hunting. But long- winged “noble” falcons (usually females, because males were too difficult to train) were the most prized. Such birds were said to be proud and haughty and were called de bonne air (of good air). The word was used so often by sportsmen that by the 17th century it came to mean any cultured or well-groomed person and it eventually passed over into English as debonair.
