crack. Very potent, addictive, chemically purified cocaine that is smoked through a glass pipe. Crack cocaine takes its name from the crackling sound the drug mixture makes when it is crystallized to form “rocks.” The term was first recorded in Time magazine in 1985 and only a year more passed before crackheads was applied to those addicted to the substance. |
