词汇 | lion-s share |
词源 | lion’s share. Lion’s share refers to the whole of or the largest portion of anything. It derives from one of Aesop’s fables, in which a lion, hunting with several lesser beasts, insisted that the spoils be divided in four parts: one for his share; a second for his greater courage; a third for his family; “and as for the fourth let who will dispute it with me.” See leonine contract. |
